The response to an alleged drink tampering incident at the Capri Cabaret in Sydney early Sunday morning is being questioned. CHRIS CONNORS/CAPE BRETON POSTSYDNEY — Tahnyss Paul is upset security at a Sydney nightclub quickly dismissed her requests to call 911 early Sunday morning when her friend was in medical distress.
After finishing her drink, Paul said her friend told her she felt weird and her face was going numb. Paul took her to the bathroom. Paul said it didn't seem very long when emergency services arrived and her friend was given a dose of Naloxone, a drug used to reverse the effects of opioid overdose. "CBRPS responded to a call from Capri Club staff at approximately 3 a.m. March 19, for assistance with an unconscious female," said spokesperson Desiree Magnus in an email. "An officer administered a dose of his police-issued Naloxone and was able to revive her, and then EHS attended and transported the female to Cape Breton Regional Hospital. She was later released."
"It was just a very negative thing. It's just crazy what has transpired because of it," Martin said."Not just crazy, unfair, unfounded. Our staff is very well trained in Naloxone training. With the accusations of our staff drugging people, I just had to draw the line at that." "There's never been a time," he said."I believe this isn't a spiked drink. I think this is someone who took the drugs or who was taking the drugs with a friend."
