“I'm retiring. I'm going to miss it and I think everyone else will too,” said Brookman, during an interview with the Cape Breton Post last year. “People really do appreciate the effort,” said Brookman, adding he was encouraged to return to his route by a number of people who felt the tradition should continue.Brookman told the Post that as a child, he recalled seeing Santa Claus travelling through on a fire truck and thought it would be better to have the jolly old fella closer to the ground so kids would be able to touch and greet him and he could engage better with those who came out to see him.Beginning at 9 a.m.
