SYDNEY, N.S. — All four Cape Breton hockey players competing in the Atlantic University Sport playoffs kicked off the postseason with victories on Tuesday night. In Halifax, the No. 3 seed Saint Mary's Huskies downed the No. 6 seed Moncton Aigles Bleus 3-1 in front of 167 fans at Dauphinee Centre. The Huskies lead the best-of-three series 1-0.

Aimee O'Neill of Glace Bay had no points, but was 4-for-8 in the faceoff circle, while Maddy Corbett of Sydney also had no points and was a minus-1 with four shots on goal. Erin Denny of Eskasoni was not in the lineup. All three play for Saint Mary's.Meanwhile, in Charlottetown, the No. 4 seed Prince Edward Island Panthers blanked the No. 5 seed Dalhousie Tigers 1-0 in front of 174 fans at MacLauchlan Arena. The Panthers lead the best-of-three series 1-0.
