In a decision released this week, Justice Pamela Marche said the mother has shown an alarming lack of insight about her role in the conflict with her daughter. The decision came in connection with the mother’s application to the court claiming the daughter breached a court order that gave the mother specific access every third weekend. However, in delving further into the family dynamic, she also ended the access by the mother because of repeated allegations of neglect and improper parenting by the daughter.
“The mother has made many referrals to child protection. She has raised a multitude of parenting concerns about the daughter ranging from sexual promiscuity, drug use, mental health instability, financial irresponsibility, poor housekeeping and neglect of child caring responsibilities,” said Marche, in her decision.“I cannot find that contact time with the mother is in the children's best interest.
As for the children, they were interviewed by a psychologist and stated they wanted to spend more time with their grandmother. It was cautioned that it may not be in their best interest for such contact if the mother continued her attacks on her daughter’s ability to raise her children. The mother continues to maintain her position concerning her daughter’s alleged inability to parent but Marche ruled she found no such evidence.
