However, much of the talk is about how dynamic Sandin Pellikka of Sweden projects as a slick puck mover and power-play quarterback, who would fit seamlessly with the maturing Canucks core. And it’s how the resilient Reinbacher would provide the club with needed stability and presence in its defensive structure.
“He’s a different style of player — more of a two-way guy,” said NHL prospects scout Shane Malloy, who appears on Hockey Prospects Radio on the Sirius SM NHL Radio Network. “You know how you always find a glue defenceman in your group? That’s what he would be after the first pairing. The Canucks could also decide to play a different draft hand. Trading down to accumulate picks and clear salary cap space in a rumoured multi-tier transaction with the Chicago Blackhawks is tempting. Giving up the No. 11 pick and choosing at No. 19 would still yield a defenceman.
