Elias Pettersson switched agents nearly two years ago. He\u0027s in the middle of a three\u002Dyear deal and is charting a course toward a big raise.
Pettersson will be a restricted free agent in the summer of 2024, but will be in a very strong negotiating position as he’ll be just two years shy of unrestricted free agency.
“The plan was at the time to explore what we could do with the cap space,” Brisson said of negotiating the current deal, which averages US$7.35 million per season. “He’s stronger in puck battles now. I’d say he’s up by 20 per cent now at least on his puck battles, which translates to puck possession and scoring chances. With his hockey IQ he does something with it.”Article content “I feel like myself, playing with confidence, with poise. Just trying to make the right play. But sometimes, maybe I tend to hold on to the puck too much, when I’m trying to find a blade,” Pettersson said.
