Gordhan's family announced earlier this week that he has been hospitalised with an undisclosed illness.

JOHANNESBURG - The Ahmed Kathrada Foundation and Defend our Democracy are holding a candlelight vigil at Constitutional Hill on Wednesday evening to show their support to former public enterprises minister Pravin Gordhan.

Gordhan retired from politics at the end of the 6th administration earlier this year saying that he wants to focus on his health. Most are describing him as a freedom and corruption fighter, who they say played a significant role in stabilising governance in South Africa.
