Up to 50 millimetres of rain and winds of 50 km/h gusting to 90 km/h are forecast for Nova Scotia as the storm bears down on the province. The temperature is expected to reach double digits in some areas. The storm is supposed to last into Saturday. Rain started to soak the Atlantic coast in the morning, and picked up in the Annapolis Valley in the afternoon., had reached nine, but with a drop in customer affected to 2,600. Most of those without power were in the central part of the province.
With high winds and heavy rain in the forecast for Friday afternoon and Saturday morning, we will be opening our Emergency Operations Centre on Friday morning. This storm is part of the same system expected to affect most of our neighbours in eastern Canada and northeastern US.
