A wildfire has broken out on the Spanish island of La Palma as the region battles a 45C heatwave.
Forestry close to residential properties has been ravaged by the flames - and emergency services have evacuated the area while they deal with the problem, reports the Mirror. Around 346 acres of land have been destroyed and Fernando Clavijo, president of the Canary Islands, said he believes 11 houses have already been destroyed.President Clavijo said: "The number of people who need to be evacuated could reach 1,000.
