Provoking conversations about sports and its power to inspire social change is what the festival, which runs Friday and Saturday at Toronto’s TIFF Bell Lightbox, is all about.

Russell Field, founding director of the“They hate it, they can’t do it. It’s not how they’ve been socialized. The argument is that other teams are going to do this to you, you need to know how to deal with it, so we’re going to practise,” Field said.

Provoking conversations about sports and its power to inspire social change is what the festival, now in its 14th year, is all about. At this year’s festival, to be held Friday and Saturday at Toronto’s TIFF Bell Lightbox, many of those conversations will centre on girls and women pushing the boundaries from youth to high-performance levels.
