The former head of military personnel for the Canadian Armed Forces is facing misconduct charges following an allegation of an inappropriate relationship with a subordinate, military police said Wednesday.

The military police statement said a probe did not reveal evidence that would support laying criminal charges. Given those circumstances, the military’s current policy of transferring sexual assault cases to civilian authorities does not apply, the statement said.
