Ottawa—Canada exported over $92.7 billion worth of agrifood exports in 2022 up from $82.2 billion in 2021 with the United States accounting for almost 60 per cent of the sales.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced the feat to the Canadian Federation of Agriculture AGM. “To build on this momentum, as part of our Indo-Pacific strategy, we’re opening our first-ever agriculture and agri-food office in Asia. As Asian populations and economies grow, they’ll need more Canadian canola, Canadian pork and all kinds of high-quality Canadian products and we’re taking action to make sure Canada remains the supplier of choice.
The roundtable “had confidence in our sector and the ability to boom with global food export fundamentals,” said Al-Katib, President and CEO of AGT. Other agrifood trade experts also expect the $92.7 billion figure will be improved upon in the coming year.
