TalkCampus uses specially trained students to provide non-emergency mental health peer-to-peer support to other students around the world, around the clock, in 26 languages
Cambrian College wants students to have mental health support whenever they need it, including after regular business hours.Talk Campus is being used by more than 180 colleges and universities.
“We know that a platform like TalkCampus has the ability to reach and support students anytime, anywhere and will supplement our current counselling supports,” said Seija Korpela, director of Cambrian’s Glenn Crombie Centre for Accessibility, Counselling and Wellness, in a press release. “Having TalkCampus available increases the capacity to serve our students who are lonely or need someone to talk to, particularly after-hours, on weekends, and holidays. We are so excited to be able to offer our students access to this powerful student community.”• 24-hour monitoring by mental health professionals• access to wellness resources.
Funding for the first year of TalkCampus at Cambrian College is being provided by Pioneer Construction-Fisher Wavy in Sudbury. “During last November’s Giving Tuesday campaign at Cambrian College, we wanted to focus on mental health care supports for students, which is why the introduction of the TalkCampus service is a perfect fit for the funds we donated,” said Malcolm Croskery, Chief Operating Officer of Pioneer Construction-Fisher Wavy.
