Calgary police leading investigation at acreage near Chestermere yyc yyccrime
Police revealed few details Saturday about the investigation that’s focused on a large property east of Chestermere on Vale View Road with an officer stating only that it’s an active crime scene. Multiple police cruisers lined a gravel road out front of the home, with investigators focused on the land surrounding a shop space on the land. Officers were seen Tuesday morning piling bags, presumably of evidence, into unmarked police vehicles on scene.Article contentSome people on the sparsely populated rural road said that the property owners rented out the shop space to a man they described as “odd” and a “hoarder,” but otherwise, they didn’t know much about him.
RCMP are also assisting in the investigation, but it’s unclear why the Calgary Police Service is the agency in charge of the probe. “This is a search related to an ongoing criminal investigation, and no further details can be released at this time,” RCMP said in a statement to Postmedia.— With files from Brodie Thomas
