John Paczkowski, human wildlife co-existence team lead for Kananaskis Country with Alberta Parks, said his team received reports from the couple saying they had run the close encounter this past Sunday. “They proceeded to start leaving the area. They said the cougar hissed at the group and followed them, getting as close as 20 or 30 feet,” said Paczkowski. “They walked back to the road and they got a ride back to their car.” Paczkowski said the couple had prepared their bear spray but ended up not using it. He said the encounter ended with no injuries or contact with the animal.Article content
