Caleb Payne, 11, the first South African actor to earn Youth Oscar nomination

The 11-year-old has been nominated for a Youth Oscar award in the Feature Film Leading Youth Artist category for his role in the 2021 Netflix movie, Payne plays Jet, a 7-year-old Albanian refugee who ends up as a guide and negotiator to Olive , a thirty-something-year-old with a broken heart who flees to a small town in Greece., was established in 1978, making it Hollywood's longest-running youth awards ceremony.

The awards have honoured the likes of Scarlett Johansson, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Jennifer Lawrence. They are considered the only youth awards modelled after adult award ceremonies, including the Academy Awards, Grammy Awards and Emmy Awards.Resident Evil
