A huge disappointment for both participants and spectators alike, but officials have had to make the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Cain’s Quest cross-country snowmobile endurance race in Labrador.
The race was first paused on Sunday night due to high winds and rain, but teams were given the go-ahead to continue Monday morning. However, overnight the race was paused yet again, with all teams being instructed to stay at their current checkpoints until further notice. Race organizers say due to the current and forecasted conditions, all race activities have been stopped in the interest of safety.
The decision was made in consultation with the racers, checkpoint personnel, on-site contacts and safety personnel.
