The owner of a former City Sawmills office building — who wants to build flats on the site — has lost an appeal against its listed status.

“To allow such a building to hold the title of ‘listed’ would undermine the credibility of HES and would jeopardise the importance of truly historic buildings in Scotland,” the appeal added. She said there have “some alterations and subdivisions” to the interior but the “original floor plan and form of the building remain legible”, and they “do not detract from the overall architectural interest”.
