The reigning Stanley Cup champion Colorado Avalanche are only four points back and have played three fewer games than the Flames. “It’s why you can only control what you can control,” said Flames winger Milan Lucic. “You can control how you do and the points you get. Seattle, they just put together a historic seven-game win streak on a road trip, they’re finding ways to win games and they’re scoring a ton of goals. Vegas and L.A. have been consistent all year.By and large, the Flames did a pretty decent job navigating a tricky month. They had two long road trips and played 14 games in the 30 days starting Dec. 18.
