Henry Thirsk's wife had gone out for Chinese takeaway and returned to find him dying in a field
A businessman was crushed to death by his own Range Rover which he had left in reverse before exiting, an inquest has ruled. Millionaire Henry Thirsk, 74, was pronounced dead at the scene on his land in Everingham, East Yorks., in April 2022. His widow Sarah-Jane had initially mistaken his dying body for sacks before desperately trying to perform CPR on him as paramedics rushed to the scene.
She said it was not ‘out of character’ for the businessman - who owned the Feathers Hotel in Pocklington, East Yorks, - to go out in the evening and inspect his property. But she was then surprised when she saw some headlights through an upstairs window of their home in the evening, near a helipad where they landed their helicopter. She then called her brother, James Clegg, as she headed out to inspect the vehicle She told the court: “I got dressed and told the dogs we were going outside.
