Philanthropist Allan Gray dies at 81
Gray – who gave the firm his name – died after suffering a heart attack in Bermuda over the weekend.He also established Orbis Investment Management in 1989.
He was born in East London and studied at Rhodes University before he acquired an MBA from the Harvard Business School. In 2017, Forbes estimated that Gray had a net worth of R27 billion; ranking among the richest South Africans. The leading asset manager described its late founder as a man who made an immeasurable impact on many lives.
