Department clarified “misinterpreted” Malawi high court judgment

Bushiri‚ leader of the Enlightened Christian Gathering Church‚ and his family fled SA in 2020 for his home country after being released on R200‚000 bail by the Pretoria magistrate’s court. Taking to social media platforms after the ruling‚ Bushiri hailed this as a “milestone victory for us”. “We believe the judgment speaks for itself [and] clarifies that an extradition hearing is not a trial‚” it said.
