Cox told authorities he planned the breakout because he assumes he will be declared a dangerous offender soon and had \u0022nothing to lose.\u0022

The details of Cox’s carefully planned effort to escape from the penitentiary north of Montreal are contained in the summary of a decision made by the Parole Board of Canada last week. The board decided to maintain Cox’s incarceration because of his failed escape, but also because he will be sentenced soon in the case where he pleaded guilty to charges related to the attempted abduction two years ago.. He pulled up beside the girl, near the intersection of St-Viateur and Durocher Sts.

The sentencing stage of the Outremont abduction case resumes in September and the Crown is seeking to have Cox declared a dangerous offender. When he was confronted with the evidence Cox admitted he tried to escape but had given up before he was found. He told authorities that he gave up when he realized it was too dark and cold outside and that he was not familiar with the wooded area surrounding the penitentiary.Article content
