The B.C. government says 426 more child care spaces in Burnaby will soon have fees cut dramatically for parents.
Local MLAs Katrina Chen , Raj Chouhan , Janet Routledge and Anne Kang announced SFU Childcare Society will be a $10-a-day ChildCareBC Site, which caps fees at $200 each month per child. "I'm pleased with the work our government is doing to put people first. Under the previous government, childcare went underfunded, with families having to choose between quality care and making ends meet," Kang said in a news release today .The province says the average cost of child care will drop from roughly $1,000 a month at participating facilities to $200 a month. "By investing in childcare, we’re ensuring that families will be supported no matter what comes their way.
Childcare at the SFU Childcare Society is licensed for under 36 months, 30 months to school age and school age.
