Homicide investigators have identified the murder victim found in a Burnaby gravel parking lot two days ago.
Just after 9:45 a.m. on Thursday, a passerby discovered the body of a man in a vacant lot in an industrial area near Norland Avenue and Laurel Street.“We are releasing Mr. Irwin’s name in hopes that witnesses will come forward who can assist us in building a timeline of Mr. Irwin’s whereabouts in the time leading to his death,” said IHIT Sgt. Timothy Pierotti in a statement.Earlier on Thursday, New Westminster police responded to a vehicle fire in the 400-block Fader Street at around 4:30 a.m.
Police are looking for witnesses or people travelling in the 3300-block Norland Avenue between 3:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. or in the area of Fader Street and Braid Street, near the scene of the vehicle fire, between 3:30 a.m. and 5 a.m. Anyone with dash cam footage or information about the two incidents are asked to contact IHIT at 1-877-551-4448 .
