On the premiere of “Unfiltered with David Kaplan,” Bulls head coach Billy Donovan shares his NCAA title-game memories in advance of Kansas-North Carolina matchup.
Donovan coached future Bulls mainstay Joakim Noah in both those title game experiences. He left Florida in 2015 to make the jump to the NBA and spent five seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Bulls hired him in 2020."I haven't followed it enough," Donovan said."I think the Carolina story is a great story. I'm really happy for Hubert Davis. He's a class guy. I'm happy he got the opportunity at Carolina. They seem to be playing really, really good basketball.
"I'm kind of being diplomatic here. I really don't know. I think hopefully it'll be a really good game. I'm excited really for both coaches. I've known Bill for a long time. He's a great guy. I've known Hubert some as well, and I'm happy that he's obviously first year as a head coach getting a chance to play the national championship. Pretty special time for him.
Kaplan joked that when he watched highlights of Donovan coaching Florida, Donovan had jet-black hair. Now, obviously, he has shades of gray.
