The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner identified the victim as Antwoina Carter, 26, of Cleveland.
CLEVELAND, Ohio - The 26-year-old woman who was killed Sunday during an officer-involved shooting was not struck by an officer’s bullet, said a spokesperson for the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s office.
“Preliminary testing does not indicate that police activity was directly responsible for the decedent’s death,” said Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner Dr. Thomas Gilson. Antwoina Carter, of Cleveland, died from a gunshot wound to the trunk and the manner of death was ruled a homicide, said Dr. Gilson.Cleveland officers returned fire, said Ciaccia.Ciaccia said officers found Carter outside of the crashed vehicle. They rendered first aid until Cleveland EMS arrived and transported Carter to University Hospitals, where she was pronounced dead.
