Browns quarterbacks coach Drew Petzing has been hired by Jonathan Gannon as Cardinals offensive coordinator.
“We had the youngest staff in the NFL,” Gannon said. “You need to hire the right people, not necessarily their resume. What’s the right fit for the team, for the head coach, the coordinators, for all of that.”“If you’re not curious about the game, I don’t want you on my staff,” he said.
Petzing has experience working with a dual-threat quarterback, having spent last season coaching Watson, who went 3-3 in his six starts after returning from a 700-day layoff and 11-game suspension. But in Kevin Stefanski’s effort to maximize Watson’s immense talent, it gives him a chance to possibly bring a fresh pair of eyes to the job.
