Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has included Dutch-born player Simon Van Duivenbooden(22) in his preliminary squad.
Broos names Bafana squad: Dutch-born uncapped player includedand South Sudan in two 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in September 2024. The Bafana coach announced his preliminary squad which featured familiar faces however Duivenbooden was the name that stood out.
The 22-year-old striker is now eligible to represent South Africa. Van Duivenbooden’s father was born in South Africa which makes him eligible to play for the Netherlands and Bafana Bafana. Last year,, said the striker officially received his South African passport and identity documents.If Van Duivenbooden makes the final cut, he could line alongside the likes of Percy Tau, Lyle Foster and Themba Zwane.
Broos’ Bafana squad consists of 11 Mamelodi Sundowns players with Sipho Chaine and Van Duivenbooden being the only uncapped players.Qatar Airways have partnered up with Airlink and has bought a 25% stake in the Southern African airline.
