Broncos coach Sean Payton had plenty to say about Nathaniel Hackett and the Jets back in August, when he ripped the job Hackett did as his predecessor.

“Respectfully, I feel like I’ve addressed it,” Payton told reporters in Denver on Friday, referring to Robert Saleh’s remarks earlier in the week when he says the comments are a “non-topic” and feels like they were made “20 years ago.”“Robert did a great job of talking about it. Here’s the thing — we have two teams focused on getting their second win. I think that’s where our focus has been.

When Payton was with New Orleans, Saleh’s defense faced him in three consecutive years ending in 2021 his first season with the Jets. He didn’t say what he saw, though Clearly, the Jets’ focus is to get the win and keep their season afloat. But even though they’ve been downplaying the Payton comments, it would make an important win even sweeter.
