The clip from 1977 has left many people in awe by just how little food was priced back then compared to today's prices
People have been 'mind-blown' after watching a clip, from 46 years ago, of when a food shop would cost less than £5 in the UK. In the resurfaced clip, which has recently been shared on social media, a reporter is seen going through every item he's purchased from a Tesco store, which all came to a grand total of just £4.68.
Compared to today's average prices, amid the country's cost of living crisis, the amounts seem very different. The products mentioned are as follows: On Instagram, the clip - captioned: "The total cost had me shook" - has been shared by an account called Britishmemesmate, which boasts of 430k followers. So far, the video has been liked more than 100k times, with thousands of people sharing their reaction in the comment section.
