Britons are facing a month of disruption to their home deliveries in the run up to Christmas as 115,000 Royal Mail workers began another wave of strike action today.as they fight for a pay rise that matches the rising cost of living in a bitter dispute with their employer.plan a series of extremely disruptive walkouts in the run up to ChristmasRoyal Mail has said it has made its “best and final pay offer” and claims it is worth up to 9 per cent over 18 months.
The Communications Workers Union, which represents the postal workers, called the offer a “devastating blow” and has also raised concerns about proposed changes to working hours. Meanwhile, staff at 150 universities will also stage a 24-hour strike today following a 48-hour strike last week. An estimated 70,000 researchers, academics and administrators are calling for a 13.6 per cent pay increase to match the rising cost of living.
