How to make a magazine in these singular times? How to tell fashion stories without sweeping sets and teams of people? The answer lies in creativity and resourcefulness, says editor-in-chief Edward_Enninful.
I’m not running around doing 100 things: the events, the catwalk shows, the travel for fashion shoots that are part and parcel of editing a magazine like British. Working from my home, in west London, I’ve been able to work closely with the editorial team, as well as the fashion editors and the photographers, and we have been able to come up with new ways of looking at culture and fashion.
Celebrating real people is something that has always been intrinsic to the identity of British, but I have been even more inspired in recent weeks. We’ve learnt lessons for the future, too: for me, the conversation moving forward will be even more laser-focussed on sustainability and ecological issues. In terms of our fashion shoots, they will be more concise, and everything will be super edited. If you have a great idea, you just need one wonderful look to make it work.
