A British woman has died after feeling unwell when swimming in the sea on a beach in Albufeira, Portugal.
The unnamed tourist, 45, died on September 21 after going in the sea in Praia do Peneco beach in the Algarve resort town,Locals raised the alarm at around 1.15pm on Wednesday after hearing reports of a person feeling unwell after getting out of the water, according to a statement issued by the National Maritime Authority.
The woman was assisted by emergency medics on the scene who tried to give resuscitation but died on the beach.The Algarve is Portugal’s southernmost region, and a popular tourist spot lined with beaches and resort towns, including Albufeira.Get in touch with our news team by emailing us at
