“The historical old district of Mussomeli was turning into ruins, locals long ago fled from their homes abandoning it. Now the British have breathed new life there,” Mr Cerasa, owner of popular Divinity café and restaurant, tells theipaper

“Brits are marvellous people, they are humble, happy, they’re not looking for grand things but just want a slower pace, more authentic life,” he adds. The arrival of so many British people in her sleepy hometown has helped her to see Mussomeli from a new perspective. Neighbourly ties have also formed. London-based Hussain Ramzan, who bought a building for €10,000 , leaves a copy of his house keys with a woman living across the street from him in case anything happens when he’s in England.
