BRANDON, Man. — As a two-time defending Canadian champion, and Olympic gold medallist, Brad Gushue has seen and used every shot in the book when it comes to curling.
“Anything that’s gonna make the sport less boring,” Gushue said Monday at the Tim Horton’s Brier at Westoba Place. The tick shot has been a part of the game for a long time, but it is gaining prevalence in the new five-rock free-guard zone rule being used at all levels of curling this year. The youngest skip in the tournament at 26, Thompson has been battling a stomach virus since Saturday.
It’s been a tough few weeks for Nova Scotia curlers. At the recent Scotties in Sydney, N.S., Nova Scotia skip Jill Brothers was so sick she completely lost her voice. That’s a big problem for a skip.“We’re though, so I’m pretty happy with that. It’s pretty crappy to be in this shape right now but at least we’re and that’s pretty good.
“I picked something up in his delivery today that hopefully he can take back to the room tonight, give some thought about and hopefully incorporate into the next game. Hopefully he can throw some rocks and get that straightened out and hopefully that can be a quick fix for us.”
