Brexit deal hopes raised as EU says 'finishing line in sight'
The Prime Minister has laid down three tests for the EU to meet in order for the deal to be “acceptable”, Downing Street said, including whether it secures Northern Ireland’s place in the UK, honours the Good Friday Agreement and ensures the free flow of trade.
Sir Jeffrey suggested that the “outstanding issues could be resolved within the next few days”, but warned: “The wrong deal will not restore power-sharing but will cement division for future generations.” Mr Sunak’s official spokesman said: “Certainly we agree that significant progress has been made. For our part we feel that, and I think the Prime Minister has been very clear, that there are still substantive issues that need to be resolved with the EU.
