It's going to be a busy last couple of days for last season's Treble winners before the window shuts.
The Scottish Premiership champions - who have a deal in place to sign Honduran winger Luis Palma from Aris - are hoping to complete both deals before Friday's deadline. Talks have been opened with Liverpool for Phillips and a similar agreement has been reported to be close in Portugal with Benfica. The move would see Phillips come north to help ease Celtic’s central defensive crisis.
Celtic are still in the market for a left-back and a striker. They were interested in Mathias Kvistgaarden but never made a bid. Reports in Denmark claim that Brondby are now ready to drop their asking price. Bologna striker Sydney van Hooijdonk has also been linked with interest from the Hoops. Further sources in Italy have also confirmed that Celtic have an interest in Cagliari’s Serbian keeper Boris Radunovic.
The Hoops also remain in talks with Japanese star Reo Hatate over a new deal. Another Celtic star who will not be leaving before the close of the window is Matt O’Riley.
