Police shut city centre road near Manchester Piccadilly station
Police have shut a city centre road after reports of a man on a roof near Piccadilly train station this evening.
Officers were called to Aytoun Street at around 4.10pm today after receiving a concern for welfare for a male on the roof of the building on Piccadilly Place.READ MORE: Urgent appeal to find missing man, 29, who may have driven from Greater Manchester in 'hi-vis van' Police said the male is believed to have fled the scene and officers currently remain in the area as they carry out their enquiries.
Transport for Greater Manchester said traffic is facing delays in the area, with vehicles and a number of bus services in the area are being diverted via Minshull Street, Portland Street and London Road. In a statement, a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “At around 4.10pm this afternoon, officers were called to a concern for welfare for a male on the roof of a building on Piccadilly Place."Officers remain in the area to conduct further enquiries.”
