Keep your head up Champ! Kwena Maphaka I’m sure you will definitely bounce back,' DJ Bravo said after Maphaka's tough IPL debut.

West Indies cricket legend Dwayne Bravo has encouraged Kwena Maphaka following his tough Indian Premier League debut on Wednesday.

The South African fast bowler conceded 66 runs in four overs as the Mumbai Indians lost to the Sunrises Hyderabad. Maphaka was given a proper cricketing lesson by Sunrisers’ Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen. This comes weeks after he sensationally defended 10 runs in the Super Over to lead the DP World Lions to a win over the Rocks in the T20 challenge.Expectations were high when he was called to join the Mumbai Indians with many expecting him to be a surprise package. His first over didn’t go according to plan and the writing was on the wall for the South African youngster.

“Maphaka realizing the difference between U19 and the PRO league. Baptism of fire,” Dale Steyn tweeted on Wednesday. His tweet was met with negative reactions, with fans demanding him to support his countryman.“Such a heartwarming IG post from Dwayne Bravo to Kwena Maphaka,” said SA cricket broadcaster Kass Naidoo.

@itzcaptain wrote: “Dwayne Bravo’s supportive message to Kwena Maphaka after a tough IPL debut is a testament to true sportsmanship and encouragement in the face of challenges. Keep your head up, Kwena!”
