A one-year-old girl is awaiting tongue reduction surgery after being diagnosed with a rare syndrome from birth.
It was while Nori was in the NICU unit of Burnley Hospital that she was diagnosed with a rare condition, Beckwith–Wiedemann syndrome - an overgrowth syndrome that affects approximately one in 15,000 births. The tot was diagnosed with the condition due to her enlarged tongue and kidneys, as well as the small pits found in her ears.
Hayley said: "We're on a waiting list, because they don't do the surgery until the child is at least one, to make sure they're big and strong enough. I ring them quite frequently, but they don't see it as a priority because she's eating purees like she should.
