Birmingham general contractor Brasfield & Gorrie has begun work on an expansion of Blue Bell's Broken Arrow, Okla. plant. Birmingham general contractor Brasfield & Gorrie has begun work on a major expansion of a Blue Bell Ice Cream plant in Oklahoma.Plans call for a new automated storage and retrieval system, office expansion, dry storage warehouse, cold docks, stand-alone refrigeration engine room and site improvements.

The automated system is described as a 95-foot “vending machine,” increasing the plant’s storage capacity and efficiency of loading trucks.The expansion is scheduled to be completed in the second quarter of 2025. “Industrial construction is often complex, and these types of projects are essential for our nation’s business,” B&G Vice President and Division Manager Ryan Springer said. “We’re honored to put our significant industrial experience to work as we help Blue Bell expand its capacity.”
