Chargers coach Brandon Staley said although the team felt it was on a championship level, the need for a more balanced offense became their undoing.
The Chargers fire offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi and quarterbacks coach Shane Day three days after the team blew a 27-0 lead vs. the Jaguars.
“There’s just a style of play that’s still out there for us. I think we’ve made improvements each season toward heading where I think we can ultimately go as a football team.” An improved running game, Staley explained, will only help quarterback Justin Herbert’s pass production and the offense’s overall ability to generate explosive plays.
