A woman died Friday after being stabbed on a footpath in Brampton’s Sparrow Park. Police said the man and woman knew each other but are unclear about the relationship.
In a news release Saturday, police said 44-year-old Nav Nishan Singh from Brampton has been charged with first-degree murder.
Police were called to Sparrow Park, in the Cherrytree Drive and Sparrow Court area, just after 6 p.m. on Friday and found a female suffering from “obvious signs of trauma” on a footpath. Police and paramedics began life-saving efforts but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.A short time later, approximately two kilometres from where Kaur was found, Singh was arrested.
According to Const. Tyler Bell, the two knew each other but the specifics of their relationship as well as the motive for the stabbing remain unclear. “Homicide investigators will be canvassing local residents for any footage,” Bell said on Friday evening.
