Teams, regardless of the sport, always want to be playing their best as they prepare for the postseason.
“We’re making adjustments on the fly and making good adjustments to different situations right now,” Judson coach Victor Lopez said. “The players are really clicking together, and teams aren’t going to be able to come out and play a gimmick defense against us. If you try to shut down one particular player, someone else is going to step up and make shots for us.”
“It’s been like this all year long,” Lopez said. “We’ve got four different guys averaging in double figures, and different people score for us on different nights and even in the same game. We’ve got a good group with some of everything. Bigs, shooters, ballhandlers. It’s a good group of kids.” The teams went back and forth in the second period before a 6-3 burst late in the quarter sent the Rockets into the locker room up 30-29. Arizona State signee Austin Nunez had 15 in the half and Kevin Garcia pitched in seven to keep the Thunderbirds close.
