Boys, 11 and 12, shot in vehicle Chicago's South Side
CHICAGO -- Two boys, ages 11 and 12, were shot in a vehicle in the South Shore neighborhood Monday afternoon, and went on to ditch the car and run for help two miles away while the suspected shooters got into a standoff with a SWAT team, police said.At 1:43 p.m., two boys, ages 11 and 12, were traveling in a vehicle in the 7800 block of South Escanaba Avenue in South Shore when a black Dodge Charger started to chase them.
The older boy was shot once in the abdomen and was taken to the University of Chicago's Comer Children's Hospital in good condition, while the younger boy was shot in the buttocks and was taken to the same hospital in serious condition. In Grand Crossing, CBS 2 talked to a number of neighbors â including Donnell Pelts, who is the father of a 13-year-old daughter himself.'Just devastation - I can't imagine a parent losing their kids out here,' said Pelts.
