Both Nando's and Galito's will sell you half-price chicken today – but you have to vote for the Nando's | BISouthAfrica

Flame-grilled chicken chains Nando's and Galito's both have R25 specials on to celebrate the national and provincial elections.Nando's requires that you show you voted – but that comes with chips, compared to the open-to-everyone but chip-free Galito's offer.Flamed-grilled chicken restaurant chains Nando's and Galito's are offering nearly identical deals to celebrate the general elections in South Africa: a quarter-chicken meal for R25.

For the Nando's offer, which comes with chips and a roll, that represents a discount of around 50% on its usual menu price, or more if you really want that roll instead of a cooldrink, which is its usual packaging. At Galito's, which is selling only a quarter chicken and a roll to celebrate 25 years of democracy, the effective discount is 42%.In return for that portion of chips, Nando's will require you to show a thumb marked with the indelible ink intended to prevent double-voting. The chip-less Galito's has no such requirement.

Our democracy isn’t having a quarter life crisis, it’s just getting started. Show us your voter’s thumb and get your ¼ chicken, chips and roll for only R25. Limited to 300 meals per restaurant. T&Cs apply.
