Red Sox looking for a new chief baseball officer after firing Chaim Bloom on Thursday.
Sources were unclear if the Red Sox had contacted Antonetti. But he is said to be among a list of candidates that may include Oakland’s David Frost, Brandon Gomes of the Dodgers and Sam Fuld of the Phillies.
This is not the first time Antonetti’s name has been connected with another team. The same goes for Guardians’ GM Mike Chernoff. Several years ago Antonetti turned down the opportunity to take over the Cardinals. Chernoff did the same with the Mets. Antonetti, 48, has said time and time again that the working environment with the Guardians is something he treasures. He has a good relationship with owner Paul Dolan and has consistenty produced winning teams on a low budget.
