Boris Johnson is to resign as prime minister.
The resignations began after Downing Street insisted the PM did not know about 2019 allegations of inappropriate behaviour against disgraced MP Mr Pincher before appointing him as deputy chief whip in February.- and subsequent investigation.
Cabinet minister Michael Ellis said the PM"did not immediately recall" he had been told in 2019, but had been reminded. Mr Pincher resigned last week after further allegations about him groping two men at a private club last Wednesday. He was then suspended from the Conservative Party. Former senior civil servant Lord McDonald said on Tuesday morning Mr Johnson had known about the 2019 allegations and accused him of lying when he said he did not. He said the claims were"similar" to those from last week.
