Boris Johnson has refused to reveal details of the £800,000 loan that led to Richard Sharp’s resignation 🔴 The former commissioner for public appointments Sir Peter Riddell said the former PM's role “hasn’t really been discussed enough”
According to the paper, Mr Blyth, who is a Canadian businessman and distant cousin to Mr Johnson, raised the idea of acting as a guarantor for a loan for Mr Johnson.
Mr Sharp, who has donated around £400,000 to the Conservative Party over the years, stepped in to help and met withto discuss introducing Mr Case to Mr Blyth about helping the former prime minister secure a loan. During his meeting with Mr Case on 4 December, Mr Sharp said he raised his application for the job of chair of the BBC, and that by doing so he believed it cleared him of any potential conflict of interest.
